These portraits that I got to take at the elopement of Ivonne and Alejandro were part of a movie I had in my head for the last couple of months, or maybe a year, so… let me tell you all about it!

As some of you may know taking photos is easy but, BIG BUT, coming up with your own style and then mixing that with locations, couples and the confidence to say “I am 100% sure that this session will be fucking amazing” is not that easy. Getting to this point has been very hard, so when the stars align and everything falls into place is pretty much heaven to me, and that is exactly what happened with this project.

What I wanted to portray was a timeless, yet dreamy piece of memory from either one of them. As if they were recalling the time in which they got married and were telling their children what it was to be young and roam around the city.

In order to achieve that I used a black pantyhose and covered my lens with it, that way the images aren’t 100% sharp, as if you were reminiscing. I really liked the effect for the purpose that I was going after and hope you enjoy it too, I don’t intend to use it always but for this specific session I adored it.

The reason why I wanted for them to walk around is because at this time and age we have gotten so intertwined with technology and have forgotten to experience our own city. I wanted for them to feel it, see the streets, smell the air (sometimes not that nice of a smell, lol) for them to be hoorayed by the crowd, because soon this too changes and I wanted to freeze it so that the city became another character in the story.

I really hope you enjoy looking at these portraits and awakens something within you.
